After many years of experiencing the adverse effects of a chronic autoimmune disease, I went on a quest to find something that would help to heal my body and mind. I needed something that would bring some calmness to my life and help me to escape for a while. A friend invited me to a yoga class, and at the end of my first practice, I knew that this was the something I needed. I never looked back.
After over a decade of practicing, I felt the desire to share this beautiful gift of yoga with others, so I enrolled in the Yoga Alliance's registered yoga teacher training program and earned my 200-hour certification. I went on to earn my 50-hour Yin certification through Bernie Clark and Diana Batts, and then my 500-hour certification. As you can see, I am always learning and expanding my experience and knowledge of this lifelong practice by continuing my education through workshops, master classes, and certifications. I am always eager to share my knowledge.
Each day I step onto my mat, I feel grateful to have a place to go when I want to escape for a while and to bring some calmness to my life. This is the feeling I strive to cultivate in my students. I adapt my classes to meet the needs of the students, and I bring a lightness and humor into my classes. With a drive and desire to help others, I emphasize the need to understand the importance of breath and movement and remind students to find the balance between effort and ease. When you practice with me, I will encourage you to "come as you are", be present in the now, and to enjoy your escape on your mat.
